It takes time to change and be better. Reading the Quran is our obligation as Rasulullah SAW left us with two things that if we hold on them steadfastly, we will not be among the wrongdoers, i.d the Holy Book and Sunnah.
In Sura Muzzammil Verse 4, Allah said,
“Or add to it, and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation.”
So, we have to read the Quran with tajwid. No one is born and readily good at reciting Quran even our prophet himself. Alhamdulillah, we have the will to start and make reading Quran our habit.
But for the beginners, who maybe not yet can recite the Quran fluently, you HAVE to find a way to learn tajwid:
Buy a verified book that teaches tajwid from the bookstores.
Urge your parents to teach you or send you to tajwid-learning classes.
Have an Ustaz or Ustazah to come to your house and teach you the Quran ‘ilm.
Or you can ask your ustaz/ustazah at school to teach you, approach them, I’m sure they’ll love to teach. Set a time and place where you can meet up, such as at the musolla of your school.
Really, these are the only way? Yes. At first, learning might be hard but as you go on, you will find reciting Quran is FUN. Please don’t take this as something hard to be done. You CAN do it. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was ummiy, that is illiterate, in other word, not even recognize the alphabets. But the Gabriel taught our prophet, Muhammad. Alah has made him the most fluent person at speaking Arab.
Take your time. Everyone has their first time :D
Some might ask, why do i have to recite the Quran in Arabic, can’t I just recite it in my language?
“Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’an that you might understand.” - Sura Yusuf Verse 2.
Besides reciting Quran, we need to fathom it, understand the meanings. Now that you have to read the tafsir. I always read the tafsir after reading a page of the Quran. We have to. So that the lesson from each verse penetrate into our hearts.
Reading the tafsir helps you to develop your love towards Quran.
In a hadith Sahih Muslim that means, whoever read the Quran with hardship (i.d not fluently) then Allah has doubled his/her reward.
And by the way, before you start to read the Quran, don’t forget to pray to Allah, that Allah eases the learning, opens your heart to love His words, follow the Quran’s rules and stay steadfast in Islam.
I believe that most Muslims are taught the Quran ilm. But why many are still not fluent? Maybe a lot of reciting have to be done then. That’s why it has to be our habit.
Naila Farhat holds a photo of what she looked like before she was attacked. She had acid thrown in her face by a friend of her teacher, after her family refused his marriage proposal.
So here it goes. We are human being and not angels. Our iman goes up and down. My iman isn’t stable. SO the keep our iman at the peak, or at least near to the best state, insha Allah:
Befriend the pious. If we are surrounded by good people, insha Allah we do not waste our time on useless activities. Like I am doing, sometimes when I’m lazy, my friend will push me to do it.
Spend most our time learning the knowledge of Islam (rules, warnings, returns, etc). We can do it online, for an internet addict like me
Always read the Quran. Keep the Quran near to us. Make time to read the Quran after your fardhu prayers.
Don’t miss our obligations as a Muslim. The foremost, our prayer. Start somewhere, even when our prayers are not perfect, we can get closer to it. We should know why we have to pray. Allah is our creator, live for Him then.
Live the Sunnah. Seek for help and knowledge from the Sunni. If we live the way how Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) lived, insha Allah, we will be beloved by the Creator.
Add up the way to be better by reblogging this. Help me to be a better Muslim too. Please, I am weak and helpless too. Insha Allah, Allah will show us the way.
As narrated by Tariq bin Shihab, ‘Umar said, “I know definitely on what day this Verse was revealed; it was revealed on the day of ‘Arafat, on a Friday.”
